Luminary - Eggcellent

As symbols of new life, eggs were exchanged and eaten during the celebration. Later, eggs were used by Christian missionaries to show a parallel to the resurrection as well as taking the name, Easter, for the religious holiday. Where does the Easter Bunny come in? It is tied to the Pagan tradition of children making nests for Ostergase, an egg-laying hare that left colored eggs for those who were well behaved. Egg hunts were also part of the festivities. The custom eventually spread and today the Easter Bunny gives out treats in decorated baskets.
